TECOLOTLÁN
The name of Tecolotlán comes from two words “tecolote” and “tlan” that means town of owls. The shields of arms, was approved for the municipal council on April 27 1999, designed by Ernesto Garcia de Alba Cruz. At the top of the shield there’s the name of the town and it was founding since 1524.
In 1524 Francisco Cortes conquered the area of San Buenaventura. The place was under the command of the trustees Pedro Gomez and Martin Monk.
Since 1825, Tecolotlán was a council town and form part of people in Ayotitlan, Xuchitlan besides the farms and huts in San Juan Buenavista, Quila, Tenextitlán, Agua Caliente, Santa Maria, San Jose and Santa Rita.
In a ordinance of July 9 1835 Tecolotlan was referred to as a municipality.
(HISTORICAL FACTS)
1524 Francisco Cortés de San Buenaventura conquered the region where ancient people rested the Tecolotlán.
1526 Began construction of the Sanctuary for the Immaculate Conception.
1599 was founded the convent of San Augustine.
June 23 1844 was renovated in Tecolotlán council pursuant to the Decree No. 5 of the State Congress published on 8 April of that year.
November 10 1866. The Battalion was free with 300 men led by captains Padilla, Dolores and Jesús Palomar Guadalajara, faced a contingent of 150 men under Berthelin, who died in battle, like many French officials and most imperialists Mexican.
ECHONOMICAL ACTIVITY Agriculture, livestock, industry, forestry, tourism, trade, services, mining and fishing.
IMPORTANT PLACES
Sanctuary of the blessed, Tecolotlan cultural center, The Huehuenton, Picacho and Quila hill, pochote dam, temple of the blessed Trinity.
MY OWN EXPERIENCE
It was the place in which i found the love of my life, i had the opportunity to know more about that place.
One day i went to the Sierra de Quila, with some friends and it was an amazing experiences. we spend a lot of time there, know more about some animals and share with friends many things like see the waterfall, landscape, the food etc..
it was the best experience that i never had, i will never change something like that.
